Always eager to do things differently from others and create something on his own - that´s probably the formula for the success of tattoo artist Ruben de Bruin, also known as Vliegwerk Premium. Heeding this idea from the beginning, he followed an unswerving course. It was already during Art Academy and his apprenticeship in Amsterdam that he developed a unique and modern take on Blackwork. His passion for comics and old engraving techniques from the 17th and 18th centuries influenced his style significantly.

Starting his full-time artist career even before he graduated from art school, Ruben constantly pushed himself into new challenges, always wondering what else could be possible. And in retrospect, that was a lot, from appearances in international publications to collaborations such as with Reell.

After years of hard work and total commitment to his artistic career, including minor breaks to slow down, he is now the proud co-owner of the tattoo studio Studio Sable in Nijmegen, where he puts his distinctive style onto his clients’ skin. 
This vita and his unswerving confident attitude make him the proper new representative for our Reell Artists. 
 
Over the years, Vliegwerk and Reell have built a strong connection. To celebrate, we accompanied Ruben and his business partner Jim Burgmann in exploring the vibrant city of London. Inspired by its urban energy, they left their lasting signature on several Londoners’ skins at the South City Market Tattoo studio.
